Sponsor: Boeing Hail may cause multiple-site damage to control surfaces made of composite materials. Such damage requires an accurate assessment of strength deterioration in order to establish design allowable parameters. Based on this analysis, maintenance and repair procedures can be established. A finite element-based method and software are developed for the quantification of the residual strength of sandwich panels with multiple site damage.
