The laboratory houses a vertical shock tube utilized for experiments studying the Richtmyer-Meshkov instability and a drop tower facility which is used in the study of incompressible Richtmyer-Meshkov and Rayleigh-Taylor instability.

Additionally, the laboratory contains a wide variety of diagnostic equipment which include the following: Nd-YAG and argon-Ion lasers, standard and cooled CCD cameras, computer workstations with frame grabbers and A/D converters, and an assortment of acceleration and pressure sensors.
