ROCKET LABORATORY

Located in AME N219, the rocket lab has the equipment to formulate, process (cast-cure) solid propellants.  The static test stand is instrumented with computer-interfaced  devices for measuring the pressure, temperature and thrust.  A modern thermal imaging  instrument measures the thermal profiles of both the rocket, and the plume,

This unique facility has not only produced a number of Ph.D. and M.S. students, but has also served the needs of industry, both large and small, from various states as far east as Massachusetts.  When necessary, small rockets are also launched from a site a few miles from the campus.

Current research projects include, hybrids, safe oxidizers, and environmentally benign exhaust products.  Our research has received wide international publicity, and several innovation awards from NASA.
