SCOPE:            Basic principles of laboratory practice and instrumentation; statistical measurement theory including probability distributions, finite statistics, uncertainty analysis regression analysis dynamics of measurement systems; transducers and signal conditioning circuits. Experiments using basic laboratory instrumentation on the speed of sound, temperature measurements, and the dynamic response of first and second order systems.

Student Design Project – Negative Damping System

SCOPE: In addition to the experiment in the laboratory sessions, students design their own experiments to study negative damping effects of a second order system.  During the process, students learn to plan experiments, analyze process, and interpret results.
